Kids Say the Darndest Things

We had planned on doing a picnic this afternoon. While we were driving around earlier in the day, we were talking about the picnic and trying to decide what we wanted to eat. We were struggling to decide. Tayte finally said from the back seat, "Fine, mom, just bake a pie."

Danielle said, Dad I want to go on a mission and then... I will come home and marry you!!

We went to watch Danielle at Show and Tell. She took a puppet and told the class about it. Her teacher asked her if there was anything else she wanted to tell the class about her puppet; Danielle said, "Yah, he is crazy....so craaaaaazzzzzzy!"

While at Danielle's school, we heard her talking to her friends. She told them, "That is my dad; he is crazy; he tells jokes all the time."

At Danielle's school the teacher had asked each student what they loved most. The teacher made a poster including each child's name and answer. Answers included things like "I love my dog," or "I love my baby doll," or "I love my toys," etc. Danielle's answer was, "I love my Joni."

Danielle's favorite animal, at the zoo, is the "rhinoshershushus."

We were at the store and Danielle saw a man with a pony tail and a beard. She said, "Look mom, there's a woman with a beard." Joni said, "No, that's a man with a pony tail." She rolled her eyes and said, "I was telling a joke!"

At church we saw the Spanish speaking missionaries. Randy started talking with them in Spanish. Danielle was not to be left out, so she, in her fluent Spanish said, "Ocho anos frocho!" The missionaries just smiled and laughed.

A couple of weeks ago Randy had been traveling. When he came home, Danielle said, "Oh, I am so glad you're home; I thought you were in jail!"

Danielle sings Jingle Bells as follows: "Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh toe farm an entoe ron, one horse open slay..."

Danielle likes to play on the "ump-puter."

When we asked Danielle where she thought Uncle A.J. would be going on a mission. She said, "Africa, or Chicketty China...with the Chinese Chickens."

Danielle has been really concerned about sharing her time with a new baby. Joni asked her what would make her feel better about having a new baby in the home. Her response was, "Turn on the fire?"
